We, the members of the Asante Nation In North America our Honorable Ancestors and Ancestresses established in Kansa (Kansas) over 35,000 years ago according to irrefutable archaeological evidence, celebrate our New Year on August 21st every year, commencing with a feast in honor of our Gods/Goddesses/Forces In Nature.
Our New Year celebration lasts a full seven days and concludes in perfect communal harmony on August 27th, the birthday of our Nana Afua - Goddess/Force In Nature of Harmony. That being said, this year Asante Nation In North America will be celebrating our New Year from August 21st to August 27th with the first public seven day communal celebration in over 150 years.. and all good Black people are welcome to attend!
We will be celebrating with libations, offerings, divination, laying hands, ring shout (drum circle), raw and vegan food, storytelling, song and dance, ankh (yoga), concerts, crafts, nature walks, archery, group meditation, animal husbandry, horseback riding, horse shoe toss, fruit bobbing, potato sack races, frisbee, face painting, henna art, hopscotch, double dutch, ping pong, limbo stick, lip singing, musical chairs, tug of war, shopping with Black vendors, camping, and more.
Over forty percent or more of our Native African Ancestors and Ancestresses captured as prisoners of war (POWs) and forced to migrate to North America during the Great Perversity/Enslavement Era were Akan and over forty percent of the indigenous African Americans already in North America when they arrived were also Akan. This means that to some extent, nearly every Black family in North America can trace their Indigenous African American family roots back to the Akan peoples of the Ghana, Ivory Coast region.
So make plans to load your vehicle full of family members and spend the entire weekend in Kwa Nduru (Quindaro), Kansa (Kansas), because not only is our Asante New Year celebration free, it is exclusively open to Black people. That means akyiwadefo (white people), i.e. white europeans, white americans, white hispanics/latinos/latinas, so-called native americans, white arabs, white indians/hindus, white asians, etc. are prohibited from attending.
Black vendors only pay a $25 per day fee to conduct business onsite all week long. If staying the entire weekend, be sure to bring your own tent and camping supplies or reserve a space in one of our family tent villages. Take heed.
